Partnerships in Education Conditions

 

Megaphone free iconEducation, training and research are recognized by the World Tourism Organization as one of the most important factors to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of Tourism Destinations. OMT UNWTO THEMIS PARTNERSHIPS PARTNERS

 

Partnerships in Education with UNWTO is aimed at Education and Training Partners who express their intention to develop education and training initiatives in collaboration with UNWTO.

Bearing in mind the fundamental quest to widen and strengthen education and training capabilities in tourism around the world, based on the recurrent demands from UNWTO Members and considering the UNWTO.Themis Foundation’s mandate, UNWTO has established these Partnerships in Education Conditions that define the requirements and procedures that Institutions wishing to launch education or training initiatives in collaboration with UNWTO must comply with.

Requirements

 

 

  • The education/training partner (or, at least one of them, in case of various partners) must have at least 1 UNWTO.TedQual Certified Programme
  • The education/training partner (or, at least one of them, in case of various partners) must be -or initiate the process to become- a UNWTO Affiliate Member.

Procedure

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Send request of interest to UNWTO.Themis (Ms Lucy Garner, UNWTO.TedQual Programme Manager, at tedqual@unwtothemis.org)
  2. Receive, fill out and send to UNWTO.Themis the Request Form
  3. Once received, the UNWTO.TedQual Advisory Board Members evaluate the Request Form  and advise on the next steps
  4. UNWTO.Themis sends the Assessment Result to the requesting education/training institution
  5. When the Assessment Result is positive, UNWTO.Themis and the education/training institution sign an agreement
  6. Once the agreement is signed, the project can kick off.

Services provided by UNWTO.Themis

 

 

  • UNWTO.Themis can provide content for the Programme.
  • UNWTO.Themis experts may lecture on special courses related to the main areas of knowledge of the Programme.
  • For the above-mentioned courses, a separate certificate will be issued by UNWTO.
  • The education/training institution is granted access to the UNWTO eLibrary.
  • UNWTO.Themis will jointly promote the Programme.

Financial Aspects

 

 

  • Programme costs (including those provided by UNWTO.Themis) are expected to be either financed through the tuition fees paid to the education/training institution, or from other donors
  • Full scholarships are to be provided for a minimum number of candidates nominated by UNWTO Member States (to be specified in the Request Form)
